Last week Thursday, 30th August, 2018, I turned a year older, thirty-three (33) to be precise. I give God all the glory for good health, His mercies and grace in my life.

To celebrate my birthday, I decided to visit Upbeat Centre, West Africa’s 1st Trampoline Park and Recreation Centre. It is located at 11, Admiralty Road, Off Admiralty Way, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos. They are opened from Tuesdays to Sundays by 9am-9pm. That means they are closed on Mondays, except on public holidays.

Below is the definition of what UPBEAT means, as defined by the UPBEAT team (Lol!)

Upbeat /’^pbi:t/
Noun: (In music) an unaccented beat preceding an accented beat.
Adjective informal: Cheerful; optimistic.

UPBEAT is a community that provides a new and exciting recreation centre with quality sports and recreation facilities for families, youth and communities of Nigeria and West Africa. It was born to fill a gap in the market by establishing a world class and fun sports and fitness recreation centre in Africa. They are all about encouraging team-oriented, wholesome and strong positive attitudes for thrill seekers, whether young or old.

The Trampolining, which is what they use at UPBEAT is known to be one of the most efficient and effective forms of exercise. As UPBEAT stated on their website, jumping on a trampoline for 1hr is equals to burning off of 1000 calories! That is 10 minutes of jumping for fun = 30mins of boring jogging! Hahaha! UPEAT provides a safe space to exercise and have fun, be it through trampolining, fitness classes or any of their sporting activities.

NOTE:  Activities begin on the hour. Do ensure that you arrive fifteen minutes to the hour to check in and watch the safety video.

One of their unique selling products is the UPBEAT colorful grip socks. It cost N500 (Five Hundred Naira) for a pair. And the cool thing about the socks is that you can ‘bring it back’ during your frequent visits to UPBEAT. Cool huh? They are prefect for picture taking *wink*

On that day, I went with my little sister, Kiki, my Photography friend, Inyene and his videographer friend, Kenneth. We had an awesome UPBEAT instructor, Bobogbi who showed us some awesome stunts on the tambourine. See my facial expressions below as I watched him in awe…Lol!

Let me summarize my experience before I go into details….the next day I woke up with body pains! Lol! Honestly, if you are going to have an UPBEAT Experience, get ready to have your whole body at work! I jumped, climbed, fell, ran…it was like I went to the gym. Upbeat is a great place to keep fit and have fun at the same time. I literally lost 10kg that day…hehehehe! It was so much fun…worth the day spent.

To celebrate my birthday, I collaborated with UPBEAT and they will be giving away TWO FREE TICKETS to jump and release at their bouncing hub.
